Aerospace Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO)

Masking for Paint Stripping: Prior to paint stripping and surface preparation metal parts required using long, narrow strips of aluminum foil tape. The parts were being hand cutt into strips from rolls resulting in inaccurate dimensions and significant labor costs.

Upon review of the physical properties of the tape and Plustar’s converting capabilities, it was determined a user friendly, manageable solution could be manufactured in house.

The Solution:

Plutar provided individual strips of a specified foil tape in exact widths as narrow as 0.25” and as long as 60”. The pre-cut strips are not only the right size every time, but hundreds of man hours were saved by the elimination of hand cutting. As an added bonus the strips are supplied in special packaging to allow for easy handling and application.

The die-cut pieces provided by Plustar saved us hundreds of labor hours and reduced rework.
